Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) have partnered with Arrow County Supplies for over a decade, working together to implement sustainable washroom solutions and support improvements across a range of facilities management areas.
Beginning with equipment supply and gradually expanding into additional product categories, the Trust continues to work with Arrow due to consistently positive experiences with product performance, communication and customer support. This long-standing relationship reflects Arrow’s commitment to delivering reliable solutions aligned with the Trust’s operational, sustainability and hygiene priorities.
Following a review of its hand towel systems, WWL sought a solution that would reduce waste, improve dispenser performance and support infection-prevention standards across busy clinical environments.
The Problem
Exessive Product Consumptions
Increased Waste and Workload
Infection Prevention Concerns
Overfilled dispensers caused towels to clump together, resulting in users frequently taking multiple sheets at once.
Fallen towels filled bins quickly and created additional work for domestic teams.
Jammed dispensers sometimes required staff to reach inside units, while older dispenser designs made cleaning more difficult.
The Solution
Following a successful trial, WWL selected the Andarta® System 500 Roll Towel System.
Staff praised the product’s absorbency, reliability and ease of use, with no negative feedback reported during the trial. The new system also eliminated historic towel blockages experienced with previous products.
Arrow supported the rollout with comprehensive site surveys, structured planning and coordinated installation schedules, ensuring a smooth implementation with minimal disruption to services.
The Outcome
As part of its commitment to implementing sustainable washroom solutions, WWL transitioned to the Andarta® System 500, which is expected to deliver significant operational, environmental and financial benefits for the Trust.
Controlled dispensing will reduce paper consumption and waste, while larger roll capacity will decrease refill frequency and save valuable staff time. Early rollout data also indicates substantial reductions in product usage and waste volumes, supporting the Trust’s sustainability objectives.
Staff have additionally reported improved hand-drying performance, helping support comfort for colleagues who wash their hands frequently throughout the day.
